Nizar Mahomed, MD, ScD, is an orthopaedic surgeon at the Toronto Western Hospital, University Health Network where he is the Medical Director of the Musculoskeletal Health and Arthritis Program and Managing Director of Rehabilitation Solutions. His orthopaedic training and arthroplasty fellowship was at the University of Toronto. Dr. Mahomed has a Doctor of Science in Health Policy and Management from the Harvard School of Public Health and is currently an Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Toronto.
Dr. Mahomed is the Director of the Total Joint Network, a partnership between 26 institutions across Metro Toronto aiming to provide an integrated evidence based model of care for joint replacement surgery. He is a Scientist at ICES, ACREU, and Toronto Western Research Institute. His research focuses on evaluating outcomes of interventions for lower extremity arthritis. He is also a member of the Canadian Orthopaedic Association, National Standards Committee, the American Orthopaedic Association and the Knee Society.
