Mary J. Bell, MD, is a Rheumatologist, Physical Therapist, and Clinical Epidemiologist in the Division of Rheumatology, Department of Medicine at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre , Toronto, and the National Director of the Patient Partners® in Arthritis Program.
Bell is the scientific advisor on Getting a Grip on Arthritis: A National Primary Health Care Community Initiative, a five-year project sponsored by Health Canada’s Primary Health Care Transition Fund. This is an extension of the 1998 Ontario-based pilot project. Bell continues to lead work on the further development and implementation of an integrated patient and practitioner education program to improve the management of arthritis in primary care.
